A BBC London News report today featured a story that mentioned our very own industry partner the British Film Institute (BFI). The report discussed the boom that TV and film studios were currenlty experiencing with a whopping £19.5bn spend on production in the UK last year. Wow! Paul Golding Chairman & CEO of Pinewood Group, talked about something very dear to our hearts here at Mulberry UTC: the skills shortage that exists in the UK. PInewood, Shepperton, Leavesden and Elstree Studios are busy building more stages apparently and will require many people to access jobs in this booming sector. Young people were encourgaged to contact the BFI so they could be signposted to opportunities…signposted to schools like Mulberry UTC, designed for young people whose passion and talent lie in the practical application of their intellegience and creativity! We are supported in delivering our rich, hands-on curriculum by leading employers in the sector, including the BFI and our other industry partner the National Theatre.
