Last half-term, our T-level Media students made history by taking part in the world’s first 24-hour live gameshow broadcast, delivered in partnership with Global Media & Entertainment Talent Manifesto. This groundbreaking project connected young creators across the globe and offered our students an extraordinary opportunity to showcase their talent on an international stage.
The live broadcast began in Sydney, Australia, before travelling from country to country, with each participating team producing up to an hour of live content. When the broadcast reached London, our Media students stepped into the spotlight. Working closely with industry professionals from Rise Academy, they helped build and operate a fully functioning TV studio, gaining hands-on experience in real-world production environments.
Students took on a wide range of responsibilities both in front of the camera and behind the scenes, including presenting, camera operation, directing, vision mixing, sound engineering, set management, and live editing. Their carefully planned segment contributed to the global broadcast, demonstrating the creativity, technical expertise, and collaborative spirit that define our Media curriculum.
This unique project gave students an invaluable insight into the fast-paced world of live media production, where quick decision-making, problem-solving, and teamwork are essential. By working to professional standards and global deadlines, students experienced first-hand what it takes to deliver high-quality live television, which is an opportunity rarely available in school or college settings.
The project also highlighted the increasing importance of international collaboration within the creative industries. By working alongside students and professionals from different countries, our learners developed intercultural communication skills and gained a deeper understanding of how media brings global communities together.
We are incredibly proud of our T-level Media students for their confidence, professionalism, and dedication throughout this ambitious international event. Their contribution to the world’s first 24-hour live gameshow broadcast not only showcased their talent but also demonstrated their readiness to thrive in the creative industries.
This experience marks an exciting milestone for Mulberry UTC and reinforces our commitment to providing students with outstanding real-world learning opportunities that prepare them for dynamic futures in film, TV, digital media, and beyond.
