Mulberry UTC was proud to partner Mulberry School for Girls in an inspiring theatre conference: “Rightful Place: Building lasting change in Theatre” on 14 July.   Speakers, panellists and student hosts challenged us all to take up our rightful place, champion our culture and tell our stories with confidence through theatre.  Year 10 students from schools across Tower Hamlets listened to, and questioned, passionate presentations from performers Adrian Lester, Lolita Chakrabati, Zainab Hasan and David Young, director Bijan Sheibani, artistic directors David Lan and Indhu Rubasingham and designer Nicolai Hart-Hansen and participated in a wide range of practical workshops led by theatre industry practitioners.

“[Theatre] is the most exciting art form there is because it’s live and people come together to see it. It’s about character, society and the human condition. If you want to know what collaboration truly means, come and work in the theatre”  Moira Buffini, writer, director and actor, in a letter to the Rightful Place conference.
